Industry Update - January 2014 - No. 111

Queensland Gaming Revenue Trend 

January 2014 has shown an increase in gaming revenue growth for Queensland Hotels and Clubs.

Total state gaming revenue has increased 6.68% on January 2013.

The growth and decline that the gaming industry (as a result of the 100% non smoking ban introduced 1 August 2006, and economic factors) has experienced since January 2007 on a yearly month on month basis are illustrated in the following graph:

The Office of Liquor & Gaming Regulation have now upgraded their statistics to use the 2011 Census data Statistical Area Level 4 reporting areas.

A comparison of each area to the same month last year and also 30 June financial YTD performance is outlined below:

Administration Manager/Bookkeeper - Swifts Leagues Club

Swifts Leagues Club is one of Ipswich's larger sporting clubs, offering patrons a range of facilities including, but not limited to:
-  Bistro dining 
-  Function facilities
-  Bar
-  Keno
-  Gaming
-  Live entertainment
-  Sporting facilities, including rugby league fields and lawn bowls

The Administration Manager/Bookkeeper is responsible for the administration and accounting functions of the club.

The successful applicant will need:
 -  Proven experience in administration and accounting
-  Ability to produce monthly financial accounts on an accruals basis
-  Cashbook, creditors, payroll, debtors, fixed assets, and other subsidiary ledger experience
-  Gaming administration experience preferred, but not essential
-  High level working knowledge of MYOB
-  Strong communication skills
-  Sound experience with various computer packages, including Microsoft
- Ability to supervise staff

Apprentice Mentor/Skills Advisory - Restaurant & Catering Australia

Restaurant & Catering Australia are seeking the services of an experienced hospitality professional for their West End office on a short term contract until June 30, 2014, with a possibility of a further twelve month extension.

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following attributes:
-  Strong technology and Microsoft Office skills
-  Strong written and verbal communication skills
-  Current hospitality industry experience
-  Appropriate business/industry qualifications
-  Full understanding of hospitality business operations
-  In depth knowledge of hospitality apprenticeships/traineeships
-  Ability to provide advice and support to apprentices

Travel will be required for this position, so you must hold a current driver's licence and have your own car.  A Working With Children check will be undertaken for this position.
